This ONE Thing Will Create Network Marketing Success
In the book ” The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results
” by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan discusses the secret of life and success.
Gary had built a successful company with national and international ambitions, but all of the sudden things weren’t working out. Out of no where he was failing.
He hired a coach to help him get a bird’s eye view of his business and life. He revisited goals and the direction he wanted for his life.
After looking at an organizational bird’s eye view of the entire company up on a wall, they identified 14 positions that needed new faces, and his coach believed that with the right individuals in those key spots, the company, his client’s job, and his whole life would see a radical change for the better. Gary was shocked and told his coach he thought it would take a lot more than that.
His coach helped him see just a few small changes in the company that would be transformational. Gary then fired himself, stepped down as CEO and made finding those 14 people the ONE Thing he focused on.
Within 3 years, his company began a period of sustained growth that averaged 40% year-over-year for almost a decade. They became an international contender with extraordinary success.
As success begat success something else happened along the way. The language of the ONE Thing emerged . After finding the 14th person, he began only working with those top 14 individually to build their careers and businesses.
After each meeting, he would end the call with a recap of the ONE Thing that would be accomplished before the next session. Each person had to answer the question, ” What’s the ONE Thing you can do this week such that by doing it everything else would be easier or unnecessary?”.
And the most awesome thing happened.
Results went through the roof.
As Gary looked back at his successes and failures he discovered an interesting pattern…
Where he had huge success, he had narrowed his concentration to one thing, and where his success varied, his focus had too.
And a light came on……
We all have 24 hours in the day, but yet it seems some people seem to get so much more done than others. How do they do more, achieve more, have more?
They make getting to the heart of things the heart of their approach. They go small.
Going small is ignoring all the things you could do and doing what you should do.
Recognize that not all things matter equally and finding the things that matter most. This connects what you do with what you want.
The way to get the most out of your business and your life is to go as small as possible. Most people think the opposite. They think big success is time consuming and complicated. As a result, their calendars and to-do lists become overloaded and overwhelming.
Success starts to feel out of reach, so they settle for less.
Big success comes when we do a few things well.
The problem with trying to do too much is that even if it works, adding more to your work and your life without cutting anything brings a lot of bad with it: missed deadlines, disappointing results, high stresss, long hours, lost sleep, poor diet, no exercise, and missed moments with family and friends – all in the name of going after something that is easier to get than you might imagine.
Going small is a simple approach to extraordinary results.
Tips for Going Small in Your Network Marketing Business
With the Internet it’s super simple to get distracted and unfocused. There are so many ways to market your business that it can be overwhelming and if you’re new it can feel defeating before you even get started.
There are so many ways you can find leads but you may be asking yourself which one really works? Because no one wants to waste time on something that doesn’t work, right?
- Do you make a warm market list of friends and family and continue to build that list with referrals?
- Do you blog and market online through social media?
- Do you pay for advertising with an ad about your opportunity?
- Do you buy MLM leads?
- Do you do home meetings?
- Do you cold market at the mall?
YES! YES! and YES! They all work but what you don’t do is all of them at the same time!
It’s said it takes 10,000 hours to master ONE Thing. So don’t decide you’re going to call MLM leads and then after a week of NO’s decide it doesn’t work. I know people who have built huge organizations this way. They focused and got really good at it and had a long term strategy. They also ENJOYED it. If you don’t then find something that do enjoy.
As a business owner you need to take inventory about yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, and what you enjoy. Then pick one of these and FOCUS at mastering that ONE Thing until people are calling you asking you to train the team in your specialized area.
In social media, you can’t master every platform all at once and probably don’t have the time to manage all those accounts, right?
So pick one and focus on it for at least 90 days then revaluate what’s working. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t post on other sites but study ONE and get really good at implementing it. So good you could teach it.
Of course the one thing in network marketing that makes us money is signing up customers and new distributors.
At the beginning of every month take that first week and focus on your goal for new reps or customers. Treat the first week like it’s the last week of the month. For example, our success unit in our company is three new marketing distributors and their first two customers. We teach to focus on that one unit every month to have success.
And we repeat that every month. Wouldn’t you feel more empowered if you knew you reached your sales goal the first week of every month. You would of course keep prospecting but you would feel more free to spend some time on learning, growing, and implementing new strategies into your business, right?
So what ONE Thing can you focus on to create success in your life and business?
Go small to get big!!
